		<description>11-19-10
Dear Ms. Doyen:
I have completed my nonfiction manuscript.
Should I copyright it or wait for the agent or publisher to do it?
Thank you.
Joseph

Joseph, we have deleted your private contact information which should not be part of a public forum.

The agent does not do copyrighting for authors, the publisher does. While some people consider it necessary to copyright their material before seeking an agent or publisher, it is not necessary so long as you are dealing with reputable firms.

Best wishes--Barb
